The cold wind hit me hard today as I walked,
it slapped my skin without warning just like life.
You know how it goes, life is good and then it turns,
life is cool before unexpected burns.
Fresh buds are peeping from the ground,
bluebell blanket caresses the forest like a lover.
Petals droop without reciprocation,
run, run for cover.
Keep on moving I say – to myself that is,
affirmations set in natures ears.
Green hues act as balm and bandaid,
skin so worn, tortured by all that is dear.
